FAQ

Common questions, candidly answered

Straight answers to what firms ask before a first call.
What does Command Stone actually do?
We make Stonebook, subscription software that pulls read-only custodian files and the private marks your firm enters into one book of record. Exposure views, reconciliation flags, and quarterly household packs all print from that book. We do not place trades, take custody, or give investment advice.
How is Stonebook different from a typical reporting suite?
Most suites are built around billing and client portals. Stonebook is built around the record. Every custodian line keeps its source file and as-of date, every private mark keeps the date you entered, and a stale mark is flagged on the report instead of rolled forward.
What size of firm is Stonebook built for?
RIAs and family offices that typically run $75 million to $2 billion across two to twelve custodians. If everything sits at one custodian and you hold no private assets, that custodian's own reporting may be all you need.
Which custodians do you connect to?
Schwab, Fidelity, and Pershing are the most common, and we take read-only files from the rest of your roster. If a custodian you use is not on our list yet, raise it on the call and we will confirm before you sign.
How much does Stonebook cost?
Annual firm licenses are $12,000 for Studio, $24,000 for Firm, and $42,000 for Office, each with unlimited seats. The pricing page lists what every tier covers, and a short call confirms which one fits your roster.
Do you charge per seat or per household?
No. Pricing is set at the firm level by assets and custodian count. Ops, compliance, and principals can all log in without changing the price.
How long does onboarding take?
About twelve weeks from first file to first quarterly pack. Custodian files connect in the first two weeks, household mapping follows by week four, private marks are entered by week ten, and reconciliation is signed off by week twelve.
Can we see Stonebook before we sign?
Yes. The Stonebook demo shows the product with sample households, and on a call we can walk through it with your own custodians and entities in mind.
How do you handle our data?
Custodian connections are read-only, so nothing we hold can move cash, place a trade, or change an instruction. Your data is used to produce your book and nothing else, and it is never shared with other clients.
Will you sign an NDA before we share files?
Yes. Email support@commandstone.com and we will return a signed NDA before any client data changes hands.
Who will we work with?
The person on your first call stays with you through onboarding. After go-live, your ops lead has a named contact at Command Stone for questions about mapping, marks, and packs.
What happens if we leave?
Your book is yours. Prior as-of books and quarterly packs can be exported before your license ends, so your exam file stays with your firm.
